my favourite cryptic electric guitarist - who wears a mask and bucket on top of his head ,, he is infamously non-verbal ,, although he has spoken in quite a few interviews - and he is well-known for his fun antics on stage …
HERE ARE SOME reasons
as to why i enjoy his work …
!! LETS GO !!
1. because this video exists :
,, super funny ,, slightly creepy ,,
low quality and fun !!

,, sweet and succinct - and oh
so sweet and charming ..
i ADMIRE buckethead’s whimsy and charm ,, it doesn’t come off as pretentious nor self-aggrandising ,, despite an obvious persona all of their low quality videos possess a carefree nature …
3. i enjoy the cover art buckethead has for the multitude of “pikes” releases he has ,, it’s sort of scratchy ,, and wild - comic-book esque as shown with the little stickers displaying the number of the pike and the “13 cents” sticker and same logo for every pike …

i enjoy the more DIGITAL look of this pike it is the 177th ,, this pike is titled “Swollen Glasses” it’s so so cute - this one certainly has a dated look in the most positive way …

4. i am sure we all have songs that we will never forget ,, or hold an inherent sentimental meaning for us - for me that song is the very famous song titled ,, “ Padmasana ” - i heard it when I was 10 years old and it really struck an emotional chord within me ,, i sometimes feel as if i had outgrown the sort of “shred virtuosic guitar la la la” personalities i feel Buckethead often gets lumped into - but this song cements me in my admiration for this artist …
- hehehe ,, all the comment get very sentimental and all poetic and fluffy ,, and they have that old youtube comment pondering ,, but i cannot be cynical - this song is indeed so sweet …
5. Strangely specific to my life ,, but i suppose that is what BLOGS ARE FOR ,, yes yes absolutely so hmm …
Whenever I hear their
music I simply want to …
IT IS TRULY ,, such a small thing however I have noticed throughout my life when I feel an urge to dance - I ALWAYS GRAVITATE TOWARDS BUCKETHEAD !! ,, it truly is strange but it is something to be noted ...

of work together ,, they are very cute together methinks ...
Buckethead was involved in a supergroup band which was composed of Les Claypool ,, Buckethead (( of course )) ,, Bernie Worrell and Bryan Mantis who is ALSO KNOWN as Brain Mantia ...
OF COURSE ,, les clay pool IS FROM PRIMUS !!
,, super super fabulous ...
Bryan Mantia was also in Primus ,, but only briefly in 1989 but he worked in Praxis with Buckethead and Bernie Worrell in the 90,s interestingly ...
AND JUST AS FABULOUS-LY ,,
BERNIE WORRELL was the AMAZING keyboardist from Parliament Funkadelic and did work with the Talking Heads ...

Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains was an experimental project in its essence ,, they all only lasted as a supergroup for two years ( 2002-2004 ) ,, they are rather humorous as a group ...

Buckethead has a fun persona ,,
and a strange “origin” story I will tell …
!! many people may find it CHEESY !!

ANYWAYS
ACCORDING TO urban legend …
Buckethead grew up extremely lonely and solitary in a farm. This seems rather normal but what was not normal was that he was raised by the chickens.
Those chickens were loving and took good care of him however one day those chickens became a tad aggressive and scratched his face therefore he started using the mask to cover the scars from such chickens. For Buckethead it was Halloween everyday ,, I suppose that is a young kids dream …
He is said to have spent his days in a chicken coop watching movies from the drive-in theatre nearby through a knothole in a fence. He recalls seeing the visuals of movies such as THE GIANT ROBOT or the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE - one of his other pasttimes was of course playing his little guitar ,, where he got such a guitar though i do not know - if anyone knows in the Buckethead lore where he gets his first guitar i would love to know !!
THIS STORY SEEMS HAPPY AT FIRST BUT THEN IT TAKES A TURN …
Buckethead got real good at playing guitar ,, very competent and good !!
A prodigy
if you will !!
However he was berated heavily as young man ,, people on the farm still teased him …
have you noticed something ??
if NOT i shall inform you !!
Buckethead at this point in the story only has his famous mask BUT not yet his bucket …
you may be asking
HOW does he get the bucket on his head ??
I shall tell you how he gets a KFC bucket on his head …
To young Buckethead’s horror ,, someone had thrown pieces of fried chicken into his coop …
!! HOW TRULY RUDE !!
in emotional dismay young Bucket tried to put the chicken back together but it was hopeless - the chicken was dead …
In an act of commemorating his fallen chicken soldiers Buckethead wears the KFC bucket on his head that came with the fried chicken remnants …
HE RUNS TO THE CEMETERY
and takes arguably an
unconventional route in a cemetery …
!! HE STARTS PLAYING GUITAR !!
it is said to be a beautiful moment ,, at that point Buckethead could feel the souls of all the dead chickens intertwine with his own - truly astonishing !!
He played until he collapsed !!
talk about dedication !!
As many children do ,,
Buckethead had great ambitions …
The farmhand on his farm showed him how to sneak into Disneyland disguised as a cast member ,, you know the ones who wear costumes and do the parades and all …
!! THIS IGNITED A FIRE
IN YOUNG BUCKETHEAD !!
he TRULY knew what his life purpose was …
He fell in love with Disneyland it truly was THE place to be. Everyone was polite to him there ,, everyone sang and were more animated company than his cemetery companions …
!! HE WANTED TO LIVE AT DISNEYLAND !!
a very logical step of reason …
Unfortunately however this dream was destroyed after staff informed him he could not live at Disneyland …
WHAT TRAGEDY !!
However ,, Buckethead did not give up hope - he decided to dedicate himself to building his own theme park and paradise in which people could visit …
If people didn’t visit however it wouldn’t be the end of the world - he could entertain himself with his audio-animatronic friends and engage in a plethora of other activities …
!! THIS IS HOW BUCKETHEADLAND IS INTRODUCED !!
Bucketheadland was introduced in 1989 and had humble beginnings ,, many people were unaware it was a theme park as it comprised of a few rusty tractors and sticks and bones.
Not the most appealing …
Buckethead had a realisation that he needed to HUSTLE and GRIND !!
He NEEDED to harness a form of hardworking energy and make money if he wanted Bucketheadland to fully materialise …
He decided to start working at a delicatessen ,, his job was to cut and overlook the meat section - this deli is where he met Maximum Bob and formed his first band Deli Creeps …
This was the beginning of Buckethead’s success ,, he started generating a better amount of money ,, he started to travel the world and make friends !!
!! YAY !!
and of course he developed his guitar skills and managed to start maintaining his theme park …
Through Buckethead’s strength ,, resilience ,, determination and hard work the loving fans of Buckethead are able to revel in the happiness of Bucketheadland together !!

I had to browse the internet and look up the story once again to familiarise myself with the lord and to assure I was not missing anything out …
!! BUT THIS STORY MAKES ME SO SO HAPPY !!
i am always more enamoured with an artist when they have a “persona” of some sorts - a character !!
And Buckethead is so truly animated ,,
Their small legend-esque story is so fantastical and interesting ,, it really adds to their mystique and whimsy …
I wonder how someone can create a truly wacky story - it genuinely makes me elated !! I would be totally down to create a persona around my art if I ever became a prolific artist myself …
I have never really prioritised “relatability” as a main factor as to why I would LOVE someone’s work ,, I understand it may be important for some however I revel in the idea that someone can be so left-field and so original that they see their own unique vision out to the very end - meticulous in crafting their image ,, which could be so far-removed from anything i had ever thought of …
Buckethead’s persona and music and stage antics were COMPLETELY out of my hall park and line of thinking when it came to me envisioning an artist on stage who plays guitar ,, this is partly what makes him one of my favourite artists …
9TH REASON :

My 9th reason is moreso WHAT IS HAPPENING in this GIF as opposed to the GIF itself ,, Buckethead is able to nunchuck !!
He can nunchuck rather proficiently methinks !!
This is an activity he often does in his live shows - very very entertaining ,, and rather comedic too …
There is this comedic nature to Buckethead’s whole persona ,, he is a tall half-robot half-bucket entity that plays guitar and gives out toys …
It feels as if he is a comical ,, animated superhero made for a web series made in 1998 …
On the subject of being a guitarist who “gives out toys”
BUCKETHEAD ALSO GIVES OUT TOYS AT HIS CONCERTS ,, how very very CUTE !!

I IMPLORE everyone to explore Bucketheads' discography - he is a very popular artist so I am sure you have heard a few songs hehehe. He has a plethora of outstanding music as well as a myriad of wacky things ,, with such a large catalogue he is bound to have a few things that won't please you. Heck ,, there are a few Buckethead songs I do not particularly enjoy.
!! But that is the joy of personal taste !!
I believe that there is something truly beautiful about resonating with a persons' artistic output - whatever median it may manifest itself in . Isn't it amazing that we are able to have so mucn personalisation when it comes to the the things we enjoy ??
Please exercise your free will and delve deep into whatever art suits your fancy !!
Buckethead truly has my heart - for every ecelctic , artistic gesture he makes.
I COULD TRULY - give 100 reasons as to why his work is particularly poignant to my life - but I hope these light-hearted ten are sufficient.
